The New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife recently opened
its new Central Regional Office in Constructed by Scozzari Builders,
Inc., The New Jersey Fish and Wildlife Division has
a rich heritage, dating back to 1892. At that time, a commission form of
wildlife administration had been created with an appointed Fish and Game
Protector. Before 1900, widespread resentment against wildlife laws resulted
in the fatal shooting of the first two wardens appointed. Today, the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife manages
over 233,000 acres in the Wildlife Management System. It has reestablished
the osprey, peregrine, bald eagle, wild turkey, bobcat and beaver
populations; stocks over 600,000 trout in approximately 200 bodies of water
and maintains the most progressive deer management program in the nation. The
Division holds wildlife workshops for teachers each year and trains an
estimated 18,000 future hunters and trappers in hunter education courses. The Division of Fish and Wildlife's new Central Regional
